COMPUCLAY STUDIOS - Juan Manuel Cortez

I was born in Colombia and moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1993. While in Colombia, I studied Fine Arts at the National University of Colombia in Bogotá. I earned a Certificate in Computer Art and Animation from the School of Communication Arts in Raleigh North Carolina in 1997. I have also taken coursework in web design at Wake Technical Community College. My artistic interests include working with various media, including clay, 3D computer graphics, photography and animation.

	WEDDINGS These are different weddings I have had the pleasure to photograph. I like to approach taking pictures as an artist, but also as a journalist, recording events like a reporter. pictures

	BLACK AND WHITE I love Black and white photography because I can capture a depth that is often missed using color photography. pictures

	DIGITAL AND SPECIAL EFFECTS Digital photography is a lot of fun. I often use Adobe Photoshop to enhance the subjects, as well as 3D Studio Max and Flash. Computer software allows us to really "play" with photographs, applying filters, color and other special effects. It allows me to take a good picture and it even better. pictures

	INSECTS I love to photograph insects. It is a great challenge. They are amazing and complex creatures.pictures

	PEOPLE I enjoy photographing people, especially children and the elderly. Children make great subjects because they are especially genuine and easy to work with. Older people have a lot of depth to them. It's wonderful when you feel you have captured the substance of someone's lifetime in their eyes, like a window to their world.pictures

	CLAY AND 3D GRAPHICS My first artistic expressions as a child were in clay and I continue to enjoy working with clay to this day. I use polymer clay, primarily, including Fimo, Sculpey and others. pictures

	ART NUDE Art Nude photography is incredible, I love to work with women, I love the sensuality and the curves of a women. pictures
